About
Otologics
Otologics,
LLC is a medical device company dedicated to developing advanced
amplification products designed to enhance communication and improve
the quality of life for individuals with hearing loss. We are
committed to combining science with logic, balancing technological
advancements with the current and future practical needs of the
hearing-impaired.
Otologics
was founded in 1996. While our company may be relatively new,
Otologics’ technology is based on over 30 years of research.
Dr John M. Fredrickson, a surgeon and researcher at the Washington
University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, interacted
daily with hearing-impaired patients. As the head of the department
of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery for over 17 years,
he has dealt with the issues of many thousands of patients. Stimulated
by the prevalent need for improved communication for hearing-impaired
individuals, he has dedicated a significant portion of his career
as a researcher to developing an alternative approach to amplification.
Through
his research, Dr. Fredrickson met José Bedoya, an executive
with a technical background in medical devices and implants, resulting
in a strong friendship and interest in furthering the technology
to help the most severely hearing impaired. Supported by a group
of private investors and guided by board member Dale Olseth, a
philanthropist and former CEO of Medtronic, Mr. Bedoya founded
Otologics.
Worldwide
headquarters for Otologics is located in Boulder, Colorado, an
area rich in biotechnology and technical talent.
